My best trip - Los Angeles & Las Vegas

Hi guys,

This post is all about my best trip so far!

Let's travel back to February of 2011, when my girlfriends and I decided to meet some of our friends in Vegas for a two-week birthday bash. Let me start by telling you that no one, EVER, should go on a trip to Vegas for more than a weekend. That two week trip seriously sucked that last bit of energy and life out of us, but it was amazeballs!!! I'll let some pictures speak for themselves. Our first stop was Las Vegas. We flew from Frankfurt, Germany to Los Angeles first and then took another plane that took us to Sin City. Although we were sort of jet lagged, the excitement of being on trip and the fact that we were staying at the Hard Rock Hotel, in the Punk Rock Designer Pool Suite nonetheless, did not keep us from partying from day one.

Although we were sort of jet lagged, the excitement of being on trip and the fact that we were staying at the Hard Rock Hotel, in the Punk Rock Designer Pool Suite nonetheless, did not keep us from partying from day one. Once we made it to our suite we just couldn't believe our eyes. Not only was the suite extremely cool, the color scheme was black, white, and red and it had skulls and cool furniture all over, BUT the best part about it was our private patio with - wait for it- our private pool. Hence the name "pool suite". We had no idea, that's why the surprise was even bigger, once we actually made it to our "back yard".

We were set for the trip of our lives. Vegas was full of surprises. So many different people from all over the world and if they were in their twenties they had one main purpose: To party like there was no tomorrow. During the day you would see families, cool grandmas and grandpas rocking the slot machines and everything in between. It was at night that the youth would reveal its face and the streets would be filled with party people from all over the world, making sure to not sleep in the city that never sleeps. Since the Strip can be quite exhausting after a few days, we decided to explore where the locals go for fun and we found this amazing dive bar called "Double Down Saloon". Needless to say, this dive bar fulfilled every stereotype there is. We witnessed a bar fight within the first 3 minutes of getting there (which also included the bartender jumping over the bar to kick someone out - who the heck leaves booze unattended?!), a cool punk rock band from Colorado was playing (this explains the 40-something-year-old punk rocker Dave in our pictures), a photo booth (which was used for make-out-sessions and group pictures) and tons and tons of alcohol.

I was lucky enough to celebrate my birthday on this trip with some old and new friends. My girlfriend Steffi even managed to organize a muffin at midnight - let's not ask ourselves how she did it, all that matters is that I had something sweet to eat right after turning 22. We "barhopped" from one casino/hotel on the strip to the next and just had the time of our lives. Strangers came up to us participating in the birthday celebrations and anywhere we went we certainly didn't go unnoticed.

Over the first weekend in Vegas we took a short road trip back to Los Angeles, since it's only a 5 hour drive away. We met up with some friends who live in Hollywood and also got to make tons of new friends. I have to admit that I totally missed dinner with my girls, because I fell asleep. Reasons for why I fell asleep will not be disclosed here (cough cough). I really wish we would have stayed in LA a couple of days longer, because it is one of my favorite cities in the world.

In retrospect, this was by far the best trip I've ever been on. On our way back from Vegas, Stef, Katia, and I did manage to miss our flight to Houston and we got put on standby. Luckily they were able to put us on the next plane and we still made our connecting flight to Frankfurt. It's impossible to sup all of the things we did and witnessed on this trip, a blog post would not be enough to summarize our adventure. But one thing's for sure: We will talk about this trip once we are old, rocking our wheelchairs in a nursing home.
I hope you all enjoyed the read. What was your best/worst vacation? Make sure to post the link the comment section so I can swing by the blog and read away ;)
Love,
-Sam
